This video comes courtesy of my brother Scott. The title of the video is "Mega Bomba" (no translation needed) and I couldn't think of anything better than to copy the original description of the video:
Culture is great. But where in your cultural heritage did you get tape explosives to a sledge hammer and slam it on a piece of metal to make it explode?
Watch the whole thing. The part that is pure gold comes at about the 1 min 30 sec mark.
Apologies to those who understand Spanish... my older brother pointed out this morning that there are some bad words uttered after the "grand finale". I'm sure if I witnessed that in person some choice words might have escaped my mouth as well.

Sweet Bento Art
Okay, time for one of my non-video posts. I'm not sure of the reason why, but out there on the intermets there is a fascination with Bento (lots of blogs and forums dedicated to it). I've run across it a few times and it is pretty interesting to me, even though I can't figure out why (isn't it just Japanese food packed into a lunchbox?)
I ran across these pictures today of Bento art, though, and I was amazed! That's creativity.
And my personal favorite. Gotta love Wall-E:

Ride the Roomba!
Why won't the cats at our house do this? My in-laws have a Roomba, but when I've played with it the cats just jump and run for their lives.
The Brits Are Amazing
Why is it that this and the "Cake Car" commercial both came out of the UK? This is just mind blowing to watch, and it's even more fascinating to see the making-of video below.

Insert Bad Donkey Joke Here
I remember years ago getting an email forward with a picture of this and the subject was always some play on the "other" word for donkey. I'll avoid that altogether. I still think this is hilarious, though.

A commercial for a car from the UK. This is so cool.

Dang, I should have posted this for Halloween. The point where the little girls whip their heads around to see what's going on should have been accompanied by the Psycho movie screech.

My brother Jeff sent this one to me. I couldn't tell what it was making at first, but then it clearly becomes obvious. Very cool.

Literal Interpretation of "Take On Me"
Not only is it fun to watch an old-school 80's music video, but the lyrics have been modified to be more relevant to the "story". I love the part in the middle where there's no singing, so they added the dialogue for the waitress. It just reminds me of when I was younger I'd watch TV with my friend and we'd turn off the volume so we could make up our own dialogue. Hilarious.

A Chimp Learning to Ride a Segway
It's a 5 minute video, but it only gets better as it goes. Chimps are so smart. Maybe if Cole doesn't get a sibling soon we'll have to adopt one of them.

How to Beat the Claw Machine
This took me by surprise... hilarious.
I love how the older sister tries convincing her mom that the younger sister has climbed in there. The mom clearly doesn't believe her at first and thinks she's already gone outside until the older sister brings her back and she actually sticks her arm in there. Awesome.

Walking With Dinosaurs
I wish, wish, WISH that this show would come to Salt Lake City. Just watching these videos makes me giggle like a 5 year old. An arena of full sized dinosaur PUPPETS! I seriously can't believe how realistic they made them, and all to full scale size, from the looks of it. Look at the preview picture on the video below. That's an adult man standing by the T-rex puppet.
And here's a video of the same type of puppet wandering the halls of the LA Museum of Natural History. I love how it makes some of the kids run away in terror.

NES Belt Buckle
Taken directly from their website:
"Sprouting up in many recent fashion shows in France, the NESystem Buckle is sure to take the world by storm. Included are two controllers, a power adapter, A/V cables, Super Mario Bros and those disguise glasses with the nose so noone knows who you are. We do not recommend wearing this buckle while driving, sitting or talking to girls."
Thanks to my brother Brad for sending this to me.

Just go check it out... if you don't like it after the first act, don't bother with the rest. I, personally, think it's brilliant stuff, though. For background info on what this is, click on the "Read the Master Plan" button that's on that page.
And I don't know how long it will be up, but it sounds like it's only going to be online for about a week, so GO WATCH IT NOW!

Metal Balls On Strings
I can't believe that this is just hundreds of little metal balls attached to strings that descend from the ceiling.
I was mesmerized watching this. Thanks to my brother Brad who sent me a better version of the video than the one I first posted.

Last Home Run
I've got to give credit to my dad for finding this one. I'd heard about it on the radio when it happened, but this is an awesome video that covers the story.
AquaFaces.org
This isn't the normal video post that I usually do. I ran across these ads for the National Aquarium in Baltimore that are pretty sweet. I went to their website, and the intro video is really cool. You can actually create your own faces made out of fish, it's pretty fun. The music on the site's great, too.

Dancing With The Star Wars Stars
So, this is from an OFFICIAL Star Wars event that's hosted at Disney World each year. I'd think that something involving all these characters at an official event would have to have been sanctioned by George Lucas himself. I mean, doesn't he want to protect the integrity of Darth Vader??? When he makes his entrance I literally laughed out loud. I can just imagine that he'd have some storm troopers do this with him on lonely Saturday nights when he's visited the cantina on Tatooine and had a little too much "space juice".

I've been meaning to post this video for a while. I also ran across this while doing Google work. If it starts to look boring towards the end, make sure you stick with it. The last 10 seconds are worth it.

White & Nerdy
I can't believe I haven't posted this video before now. I'm sure most of you have seen it, but I ran across it again today and had to add it right away. Donny Osmond is the highlight, in my opinion. There's also a great reference in the video to the Star Wars Christmas Special.

Pork and Beans
I found this video today while working for Google (how's that, Dave) and it made me laugh, just because there are sooo many forwarded youtube videos that I've seen over the past few years that are in it. The song is done by the band Weezer, and they actually got all these people from the youtube videos to make cameo appearances in the music video. Even if you don't know all the references that they make, you'll definitely recognize some (more famous ones are the Chocolate Rain guy and Miss South Carolina).

I Love You, Brother
If you have no idea what this is, you're obviously not an American Idol watcher. If you're interested to see what it came from, though, here's a link to the original audition and also his reappearance at the American Idol finale (complete with a full marching band).
This video doesn't actually feature the original guy, but a band who put together a MUCH better version of his cheesy song, and made an even cheesier video to go along with it.

Ken Lee
Well, with the American Idol finale over and our anger over Archuleta's loss subsiding, I thought I'd post an AI-related video. This is from the Bulgarian version of Idol's auditions. I love how this girl's so confident that she knows more than the judges, whom I presume must be music stars in Bulgaria.

A Girl Named Amy
This is definitely the coolest toast at a wedding that I've ever seen. Here's a little background information taken from the original site:
"We are not sure how this was kept secret by everyone involved but it was truly an incredible production. Check out Amy’s utter shock when people start springing up from the crowd to join in the fun in this heartwarming tribute to Amy and Brad on their special day…"

Google Street View Catches It All
I came across this link today of a pretty funny thing caught on the Google Street View photos. If you haven't been exposed to Google Street View, it's pretty cool. A vehicle with cameras mounted on top drives down streets taking 360° photographs. Here's a link to a set of pictures that captured a kid riding his bike down the sidewalk and Google documents his great fall. (You can actually see his feet go over his head as you click further down the street. It's hilarious.)
This video came out a while ago when Google Street View first started getting becoming a little controversial. It's actually pretty funny to me, though.
And for you LOST fans, did you notice the sound effect of the hatch exploding?

Lego Thriller
This is a Lego version of the Michael Jackson video, Thriller. (If you haven't seen the original, it's a classic. Check it out.)
All I can say is that someone had LOTS of free time to do this. This is actually the SHORT version of the video, cut down to where it actually gets more entertaining. The original is over 10 minutes long and is shot for shot the entire Thriller video made out of Lego people.

The Olympics
This is from that same Japanese show as the food fight video. Seriously, I think it would be so fun to come up with some of the things that they do on that show. I can't believe how creative they get. I love all the "special effects" with the different transitions and the flying "camera angles." So cool.

The Star Wars Christmas
So a while ago I was introduced to the Star Wars Christmas Special. Apparently back in the 70's when Star Wars first came out, it was such a huge success that they had to capitalize on it in every way that they could. First they made a Christmas Special, which is one of the cheesiest things I've ever seen. Here it is, condensed from 2 hours to just 5 minutes (listen for the Wilhelm scream, it's in there!):
So like I said, that had to be one of the cheesiest things I've ever come across... until yesterday.
With such classic songs as "Christmas In The Stars" and (probably the best song title in history) "What Can You Get A Wookie For Christmas (When He Already Owns A Comb)". You can listen to these heart-warming songs below:

The Wilhelm Scream
I learned about this sound effect probably about 5 years ago or so. Basically, it's a scream that is used in just about EVERY movie that has an action sequence in it. I don't know if it's a Hollywood inside joke, or what, but now I hear it every time it's used in a new movie. You can read more about it here:

Super Mario Brothers played by an RC car

That's So Sweet!
Okay, so I'm admitting right up front that this blog is NOT original at all. I subscribe to a couple of cool blogs that post LOTS of stuff each day, and they have some really cool posts every once in a while that I constantly think "I should forward this to so-and-so because they'd get a kick out of it. I also work for Google from home and run across some cool/VERY strange stuff.
So basically, instead of becoming a forward-king, I figured I'd set up a blog and post my favorite stuff that I find and would want to share with others.
Feel free to give suggestions.
